Here, today’s education is interwoven with Jewish values and tradition. Are you looking for an elementary school (grades 1–6) in Berlin where Judaism is experienced as inclusive, egalitarian, and open for questions? A school that values different cultural backgrounds, where the Jewish calendar structures the school year, and Judaism is part of daily life? A school where learning is based on the City of Berlin curriculum and Hebrew is part of both classroom learning and school routines? Then you have come to the right place!
We are a dedicated international team of educators who shape both the school day and the after-school program together.
Through both project-based learning and more formal learning situations, our students learn math, reading, writing, and science, also learning to take responsibility and to treat one another with respect. When students work together to write, rehearse, and perform a play – whether about a Jewish holiday or another topic – they develop a wide range of skills during their individual learning journeys that are carefully supported by the team. The city of Berlin itself becomes a learning environment: its museums and forests are extensions of our classrooms.
Our school is still growing. We currently have about 80 students and we are looking forward to growing to up to 120 children – to learn, work, and discover the world together. If you have long lived in Berlin or moved here recently, our school can offer you and your child a warm, family-like community – a second home. Jewish life at our school is joyful and engaging, for instance in preparing for and celebrating Shabbat and the holidays, which we often celebrate together with the entire family. We support the students in discovering and developing their own Jewish identity. By asking questions, students start connecting to Jewish tradition, lived in all its diversity and based on our shared values.
The school was founded in 2018 and has full accreditation as a “staatlich anerkannte Schule in freier Trägerschaft” – a state-recognized independent school, operating as an “offene Ganztagsschule” (all-day school): After classes, we offer programs and daycare until 5 p.m., including during school vacations.
Tuition fees are income-based. You can find our tuition fee table (in German) here.
In addition, you need to apply for a Hortgutschein (Voucher for the full-day program). Information in German on how to apply can be found here. We are happy to help with this process.
Please let us know if you need support with transportation, such as a school bus or supervised public transportation to school.
